Engage in Unauthorised Activity

Those foregners with "Student" and "Dependent" visa are not allowed to engage in a full time paid work.However,they may be allowed to work as a part time worker on condition that a permission is granted by the Immigration Bureau,that is called"Permission to Engage in an Activity Other Than That Permitted by the Status of Residence Previously Granted"
For example,it is granted when a student works within a limited time so far as his part time job doesn't have disturbing influence on his study,and when a spouse of foreign employee start to work as a professional interpreter or translator as secondary activity.

Usually students may apply for this permission before their employers are found,while those with "Dependent" visa may apply after their employments are decided.

Please note that it will be illegal if "Student" or"Dependent"visa holders engage in any paid works without this permission or any activities connected with sexual entertainment,which lead to a subject of deportation.

You may be allowed to work within limited hours shown below if this permission is duly granted:

* College Students :
less than 28 hours a week and less than 8 hours a day during vacation
* College Students who attend courses as auditors or research students :
less than 14 hours a week and less than 8 hours a day during vacation
* Pre-college students :
less than 4 hours a day
* Dependents :
less than 28 hours a week basically with some exception depending case by case.
